I looked into this too after hearing about it many times. I read the full study. It was very interesting.

A lot of U.S. soldiers in the Vietnam War tried heroin. Many even used it a lot. But when they came home, most of them just stopped. Only a few used it again. And only a tiny number became addicted again.

Why? Because they were back home. Life was different. Their friends and family didn’t like drugs. They had more to do and more to lose. They were not stuck in war anymore.

This shows something important: People don’t use drugs just because the drug is strong. They use it when life is hard or lonely. When life gets better, many stop on their own.

So i think environment matters more than the drug itself. maybe we should stop thinking people who use drugs are always sick or weak. Many just need help, hope, and better places to live.
